BA(Hons) Textile Collection - Final Major Project first show!

Well, following the opening of our (BA(Hons) Textile Design) Summer Show I thought I better get some pictures on here for you all to see. If you've been to the show: hope you enjoyed it! if not: get down there! We are still open today and tomorrow (Sat 13th & Sun 14th) 11am to 5pm. BA(Hons) Textile Design is located at the Commercial Road Site, 5th Floor and thats London Metropolitan University.

Pictures of the show and our Private View will follow shortly, but for now I will be posting a selection of my first collection created for the show.

Below is a section from my Concept accompanying the collection, which should help to set the 'Scene' for you...... enjoy!

"In the Dark Places……

A fabric collection created in a world where things are not always as they seem........

Originating from the notion of a girl exploring an unknown fantasy world, this series of interior textiles has grown into a dark, imaginative set of narrative prints with melancholic undertones that fuse Pattern Design and Illustration. The title has a two fold meaning: referring both to the physical dark places created by shadows and the darker side of the imagination: and the things that lurk within both! Areas of strong contrast and darkness together with the ‘twisting’ of familiar childhood imagery is intended to evoke contrasting feelings of intrigue, comfort and apprehension."

Collection in colourway - Mustard & Mauve with Cream (Collections Signature colourway)

Collection in Colourway - Gold & Green with White

Collection in colourway - Brown & Turquoise with Taupe

All the above designs are developed through my own drawn imagery and then hand printed using Screen printing technique. The lengths shown are on a cotton drill, though others have also been done on Linens and Sustainable fabrics.
